Product Description

This inductive proximity switch detects metal objects without contact. The component operates based on the principle of electromagnetic field changes. When metal approaches the active element, the coil's self-inductance decreases, triggering a switching pulse. The sensor reliably responds at a maximum distance of 3 mm and must therefore be positioned very close to the object being detected.

The 24 V DC design makes the sensor suitable for industrial control circuits where this voltage is already available. The switching output operates as a continuous single switch or, for higher loads, via an intermediate relay. Since no mechanical contacts wear out, maintenance is not required even with frequent switching operations.

Applications include position detection on production machines, detection of metal workpieces on conveyor systems, checking component positions before forwarding them to the next process steps, and monitoring the locking of metal closures. The cylindrical design fits into narrow bores or guide rails.

The sensor detects only ferromagnetic and non-magnetic metals, not plastic, wood, or ceramics. Operation requires a stabilized 24 V DC power supply. When used with TTL or 5 V logic boards, the output voltage requires level shifting or an intermediate relay.
