IC extraction tool - 10 cm, green plastic handle
Description
Product Overview
- Extraction tool for removing integrated circuits from solder holes
- Length: 10 cm, green plastic handle
- Two parallel levers with tips for getting underneath IC leads
- Works on both sides simultaneously, preventing damage to the circuit board and component
Product Description
The extraction tool removes electronic components with multiple leads from a soldered circuit board without damaging the IC or the board. The two levers are slid underneath the rows of leads from both sides, then even pressure lifts the component. This principle distributes the force instead of applying it at a single point as with improvised tools.
The design with two opposing levers relieves stress on both the circuit-board traces and the fragile IC leads during removal. Even with densely populated circuit boards, neighboring components remain undamaged. The tool is suitable for ICs with up to approximately 40 leads; the 10 cm lever length provides sufficient reach on confined boards.
In schools, when replacing defective components on breadboards; when recycling old circuit boards to recover components; during prototyping when redesigning circuits; and during troubleshooting in development, the tool saves time and costs through safe component reuse.
Bent-back IC leads require reworking; the tool only removes vertically soldered components with straight leads. Removing heavily corroded or extensively soldered contacts requires desoldering flux or reheating with a soldering iron.
Safety Notice
The tool is intended for safely removing components from solder joints during electronic testing, prototyping, and repair work. Improper use may damage circuit boards or bend component pins. Desoldering work requires caution around hot components and solder fumes.
