Product description
This load cell with an integrated pressure sensor converts loads of up to 1 kg into digital measurements. The HX711AD chip determines the measured pressure and outputs the signal directly in digital form, eliminating the need for analog-to-digital converters.
When a load is applied, the sensor element generates a small change in voltage. The chip amplifies this signal and records it with high resolution. Output is provided at up to 80 measurements per second, which is sufficient for weighing applications. To track rapid weight changes, a lower measurement rate is required to minimize delays.
Possible applications include kitchen scales, postal scales up to approximately 1 kg, dosing systems in small-scale installations, or animal scales for rodents and birds. The load cell is also frequently used in IoT project prototypes, for example to automatically record feeding quantities.
The sensor outputs its values via a serial interface, so a microcontroller board with a corresponding interface is required. The supply voltage must be between 4.8 and 5.5 V. Calibration is performed by software, eliminating the need for mechanical adjustment. However, load cells of this type require a stable, vibration-free surface for accurate measurements.
