Product description

A brushless controller with an integrated 5 V voltage regulator is used to control three-phase DC motors without brushes in aircraft models and multicopters. The electronic switch controls the motor windings using rapid pulse-width modulation. The duration of current flow in each winding follows the receiver's PWM or PPM signal, thereby determining the rotational speed and direction.

The 40 A continuous load capacity is suitable for lighter aircraft models with a takeoff weight of 1 to 2 kg. The integrated 5 V voltage regulator powers the receiver and servos, eliminating the need for a separate power supply for these components. The switching frequency of up to 16 kHz is above the audible range and thus limits electromagnetic interference that could affect other consumers.

The controller is connected in series between the battery, motor, and receiver. Programming is performed via an operating menu on the device itself; safety range, motor braking, and other parameters can be adjusted without additional hardware. The device operates with both LiPo batteries and nickel-metal hydride cells; it automatically detects the number of cells.

Typical applications include electrically powered aircraft models, quadcopters and similar helicopters, as well as fast racing quadcopters. The controller is also suitable for ground vehicles with brushless motors.

The controller requires a LiPo or nickel-metal hydride battery with two to six cells. The motor current must not exceed 40 A; a more powerful controller is required for higher demands.

Safety information

Take particular care to connect the battery with the correct polarity. Reverse polarity will damage the device and may cause a fire. The device is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for connection to the household power grid. Significant heat is generated during operation, so the surroundings must be unobstructed and well ventilated during flight.
