Extruder gear for 3D printer - stainless steel, 5 mm bore
Description
Product Overview
- Stainless steel gear for filament drive systems in 3D printers
- 5 mm diameter bore
- Consumable part with a limited service life
- Threaded teeth prevent filament slippage
Product Description
The drive gear for 3D printers pushes plastic filament into the hot print head. The teeth engage with the material and continuously feed it forward, while the 5 mm bore mounts it onto the extruder motor shaft.
Stainless steel lasts significantly longer than plastic or ordinary steel, especially with abrasive filaments such as filled materials or carbon compounds. Nevertheless, wear grooves eventually form in the toothed area, making the filament less reliable to grip. Replacement is necessary when the filament slips during printing or is fed unevenly.
The gear fits standard direct-drive and Bowden extruder systems. Replace it after extended printing with highly filled materials or low-melting-point plastics to prevent reliability problems with new print jobs.
A 5 mm bore in the motor shaft of the existing extruder is required. The appropriate screw or grub screw for securing it is normally already installed; otherwise, a suitable fastener must be obtained.
Safety Information
The gear is made of stainless steel and has sharp-edged teeth. Protect your fingers from cuts during installation and removal. The product is intended exclusively as a replacement part for operating 3D printers in private or educational environments and is not designed for continuous industrial operation.
