Waveshare ESP32-S3 industrial controller - 8 DI, 8 DO, PoE, DIN rail
Description
ESP32-S3 Industrial Control Board, Industrial-Grade 6-Channel WiFi Network Relay Module
The ESP32-S3-POE-ETH-8DI-8DO is an industrial-grade control board based on the ESP32-S3. It provides 8 galvanically isolated digital inputs, 8 optocoupler-isolated digital outputs, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Ethernet, RS485 and CAN in a housing for 35 mm DIN rails.
This makes it possible to move from the breadboard to real industrial automation: sensors, switches and end positions are connected directly to the screw terminals, while relays, valves or signal lights are connected to the outputs. Programming is done as usual via the Arduino IDE.
The integrated PoE module according to IEEE 802.3af means that a single network cable is sufficient for data connection and power supply. Alternatively, you can power the board via the screw terminal with 7 to 36 V or via USB Type-C.

Features in detail
- Fully isolated inputs and outputs: optocoupler and digital isolation keep interference from the field away from the controller
- Separate power supply isolation on the input and output sides; no additional power supply is required for the isolated side
- Darlington outputs with integrated flyback diode, suitable for directly controlling relays
- Digital inputs and outputs can be linked
- TCA9554PWR I/O expander for controlling the digital outputs
- TVS diodes for suppressing overvoltages and transient peaks
- Pin header, multifunction terminal with switchable logic level and USB Type-C output for connecting additional devices
- RESET and BOOT buttons directly on the board
Scope of delivery
- 1x ESP32-S3-POE-ETH-8DI-8DO
- 1x 2.4 GHz SMA antenna, 4 dB
- 1x screwdriver
Notes
- PoE operation requires a switch or injector compliant with IEEE 802.3af. A switch is not included.
- The size 1220 RTC battery holder is exclusively designed for rechargeable cells with 3 to 3.3 V. Do not insert non-rechargeable button cells.
- The specified 500 mA is the maximum value per output channel. Allow sufficient headroom for inductive loads.
- Work on systems with mains voltage may only be carried out by appropriately qualified persons.
- You can find documentation, example code and circuit diagrams in the Waveshare Wiki for the ESP32-S3-POE-ETH-8DI-8DO model.
