4-pole DIP switch - 2.54 mm pitch
Description
Product overview
- four-position DIP switch for PCB mounting
- switching options for configurations from 0000 to 1111 in binary logic
- each position can be switched individually without tools
- 2.54 mm pitch, the standard spacing for perfboards
- low switching capacity, designed for logic signals in the volt and milliampere range
Product description
A four-position DIP switch allows eight different states (from 0000 to 1111 in binary logic) to be set permanently on the PCB. Each position switches independently between two contact states and is operated by hand, without requiring soldering or tools.
The four switches are arranged in parallel and use common ground contacts. Configurations can be adjusted quickly during development without modifying the PCB. The component operates in the volt and milliampere range and is suitable only for logic signals, not for switching higher loads.
Typical applications include setting operating modes, addresses, or calibration values in microcontroller projects. Such a switch combination can also be used to enable or disable software behavior during operation when the code reads the input levels cyclically.
The component fits standard perfboards with a 2.54 mm pitch. Wiring requires a digital input port on the microcontroller, ideally with pull-up or pull-down resistors to ensure stable logic levels. Higher switching capacities or voltages above 5 V require additional driver circuits.
Safety information
The component is not intended for integration into household mains circuits. It is intended exclusively for configuring prototypes and test and development setups. When working on or near electrical installations, consult a qualified electrician.
