Product Description
A DC-DC step-down converter with a voltmeter is suitable wherever various DC voltage sources need to be stabilized to a constant 5 V. The module operates with an input voltage between 4 and 40 V and provides a stable 5 V output voltage via the USB output.
Internally, a switching regulator generates the stable output power. The voltmeter on the digital display continuously shows the input voltage, which helps with diagnosing and monitoring power supplies. At the same time, the USB output can handle up to 2 A, allowing it to power several smaller devices or a standard USB charger.
The converter is suitable wherever different voltage sources in laboratories, mobile applications, or test setups need to be stepped down to 5 V. For example, a portable solar module with a 30 V output voltage can power several microcontroller boards simultaneously. The module also reliably supplies power at every USB port when reducing the voltage from older or unstable power sources.
Operation requires any DC voltage input in the range of 4 to 40 V and a USB device to be powered. The thermal regulation protects the module from damage during continuous operation or in the event of a short circuit. Efficiency decreases with large voltage differences between the input and output, so an input buffer capacitor is recommended for very noisy voltage sources.
