Product Description
This thermal printer is a print head module for integration into Arduino-based systems. The thermal printing process means that heat-sensitive paper is printed using targeted heat pulses, without the need for ink or toner. The module operates at a resolution of 384 dots across the 58-millimeter print width.
Connection is established via an 8-bit parallel data bus, enabling direct control through the GPIO pins of an Arduino board. The 5 V operating voltage matches the standard voltage level of Arduino-compatible microcontrollers. At full load, current consumption can reach up to 2 amperes, so the power supply must be provided by a separate power supply with sufficient capacity to avoid overloading the Arduino board.
Possible applications include mobile data loggers with on-site printouts, weighing systems for point-of-sale projects, and measurement setups that need to output documented results on thermal paper. The fast print speed of up to 100 millimeters per second enables rapid output without significant waiting times.
Operation requires a power supply providing at least 2.5 amperes at 5 volts in addition to the Arduino board. Thermal paper must be purchased separately. Before commissioning, ensure that the print head was transported with protective film or a plastic cover and remove it to prevent damage.
Safety Notice
The print head heats up during printing. Contact with the active print head must be avoided, as burns are possible. This module is intended exclusively for prototypes and testing and development purposes and is not designed for installation in the household electrical circuit. If you have questions about safely commissioning the power supply, consult a qualified electrician.
