Product Description
A two-axis gimbal stabilizes cameras using two independently controlled servo motors, removing camera shake during flight or compensating for movements of the carrier platform. The two MG9 motors enable panning movements in tilt and yaw, while a third degree of freedom (roll) remains mechanically fixed. The mount is designed for cameras weighing up to approximately 500 grams.
The tilt range covers 90 degrees, while the yaw range reaches 180 degrees. These axis ranges provide the framework for scenarios such as smooth pans over a person being tracked, stable overhead shots while the quadcopter rotates, or gentle camera movements on ground-based platforms. The faster the servos are driven and the more intense the system's base movement, the more the gimbal must compensate through counter-movement.
To operate it, two servo control channels are required on the flight controller or robot board, typically using PWM signals (pulse-width modulation). The camera is mounted using a quick-release plate or adhesive mounting; for heavier setups with greater torque, a secure mounting and balancing are recommended. Before operation, the gimbal should be set to the neutral position so that the servos do not move to their end positions while uncalibrated.
Safety Notice
When wiring and commissioning the device, the servo motors must not be driven against their mechanical end positions in order to prevent damage. The gimbal is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes.
