Product Description
The 18-megapixel camera uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and captures images in Full HD and 4K for projects involving image processing, surveillance or environmental monitoring. It connects directly to the Raspberry Pi camera port via the CSI ribbon cable, without additional USB controllers or an external power supply.
The sensor uses a rolling-shutter process with global exposure control. The maximum resolution of 5280*3480 pixels is available at up to 30 fps; at higher frame rates, the resolution is reduced. The fixed lens enables focusing at close range, but requires manual adjustment instead of motorized autofocus.
Typical applications include image-capture projects such as real-time object detection using machine-learning models, time-lapse recordings of construction work or environmental documentation. The direct CSI connection avoids USB bandwidth limitations and significantly reduces latency compared with USB cameras.
Use requires a Raspberry Pi model 3B, 3B+ or 4B with an updated operating system. Support must be enabled via the official camera support package and the Picamera2 library. An external power supply for the camera is not required, as the CSI port supplies power.
Safety Information
The sensor is sensitive to static electricity; take appropriate grounding measures when handling it. The ribbon cable may only be connected or disconnected when the Raspberry Pi is switched off to prevent damage. This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes, and is not intended for installation in the household electrical circuit.
