Product description
This six-digit LED segment display shows numbers and simple characters and is controlled via the I2C bus. The integrated TM1637 driver chip controls the segments, so only four connections are required. This significantly reduces the number of output pins needed on microcontroller boards.
With a digit height of 0.36 inches, the red LEDs can be read from several metres away. The display operates at 5 V, and its brightness can be adjusted in 16 levels. The light can be switched on and off and its intensity adjusted via software.
Typical applications include digital clocks, timers for experiments, counters for measurements such as temperature or air pressure, and runtime displays. In a reaction-time game, for example, intermediate times can be recorded with millisecond accuracy.
Operation requires a microcontroller board with I2C support, such as an Arduino or a comparable development board. A suitable software library is usually available free of charge or can be adapted quickly.
