Product description

A motor controller for two-axis brushless gimbals keeps cameras stable and aligned during movement. The module receives PWM control signals from the RC receiver or microcontroller and converts them into coordinated control of the two independent motors to regulate the camera mount's pitch and roll. Each axis supplies up to 5 A of motor current, while the supply voltage ranges from 7 to 30 V, enabling operation with various LiPo batteries as well as permanently installed power supplies.

The system is based on rapid current modulation. A digital controller measures the motor outputs and continuously adjusts the control signals based on the gimbal's position information. The control gain can be adjusted via a serial interface to adapt the system to different camera weights and mechanical setups. Recalibration after rebuilding is not required.

Typical applications include aerial photography with quadcopters or multicopters, where the gimbal keeps the camera stable in the direction of flight while the aircraft maneuvers. In handheld stabilization systems, the controller receives input from accelerometers. When mounted on vehicles for monitoring or documentation, the module also enables shake-free video recordings over uneven terrain.

The controller uses standard PWM signals but requires a dedicated power supply for the motors, separate from the logic supply of the flight controller or receiver. Wiring with solderable cable connections must be provided. The module is suitable for gimbals with motor weights of approximately 50 to 200 g per axis; overloading leads to thermal shutdown.

The module is not intended for installation in household electrical circuits or operation at mains voltage and is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes.
