Product description
This module connects low-level electronics to mains-powered devices and loads on the 230 V grid. It consists of an electromagnetic relay with an optocoupler that galvanically isolates the 12 V control circuit from the 230 V circuit. This allows Arduino boards and similar controller boards to be used safely for switching household appliances, lamps, or industrial loads.
A digital control signal at the four connection pins triggers the switching process. The potential-free relay allows both switching in existing power lines and connecting various types of loads regardless of their internal circuitry. At a rated load of 10 A and 230 V, the module operates reliably in typical home automation scenarios such as timed switching of radiators, switching outdoor lighting based on dusk detection, or remotely controlling workshop machines over an Internet connection.
The module is connected to an Arduino or compatible board via the control inputs. A separate 12 V power supply is required for operation. The 230 V installation may only be carried out by a qualified electrician, as may any modifications to the existing mains circuit.
Safety notice
The relay board operates with mains voltage (230 V) and must not be integrated into existing household power lines without a qualified electrician. The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Work on or near electrical installations is reserved for qualified electricians; consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about the correct wiring.
