Product Description
The OLED display module is a compact display element for integration into electronic projects and prototypes. The integrated SSD1306 controller directly controls the pixels; the organic light-emitting diodes produce light independently of separate illumination. Each pixel switches individually, resulting in contrast levels that cannot be achieved with liquid-crystal displays.
The connection is made via the I2C bus, which requires only two signal lines plus a power supply. This interface enables multiple modules to operate on one bus, thereby saving a considerable number of microcontroller pins. The operating voltage is 3.3 V; although the module can communicate with 5 V logic, the power supply should remain limited to 3.3 V.
Typical applications include compact measured-value displays in portable data loggers, status messages in robots or hobby projects, and small diagrams in test equipment. The size is sufficient for interactive controls, but not for large diagrams or tables. The module is also used in alarm systems, where it displays sensor statuses or error codes.
A microcontroller or single-board computer with an I2C interface, a 3.3 V power supply, and a control library for the SSD1306 are required. Display content is managed through software; calibrated measurements are not possible because this is a display element only.
