Product Description
This photoelectric light barrier uses an infrared beam to detect objects. The U-shaped plastic housing contains the transmitter and receiver in its two arms, with approximately 10 mm between them. When an object such as a spoke, disc, or stop piece passes through the slot, it interrupts the light beam.
An integrated LM393 comparator converts the weak receiver signal into a clean digital switching signal. The comparator compares the pulse signal with a threshold value and outputs a stable signal level. The status LED lights up when the light beam is interrupted and goes out when the light passes through again. This makes the output state visible at all times.
The module is suitable for measuring speed on wheels with spokes or cutouts, detecting passing objects for counting, and recognizing the position of moving parts. The U-shape fits directly into slotted wheels or can be mounted on machine axes for end-stop detection.
The operating voltage of 3.3 to 5 V allows direct connection to common microcontroller boards and single-board computers with correspondingly compatible voltage levels. The PCB is mechanically secured through a mounting hole; the power supply and signal output are connected via angled connection pins for direct insertion or soldering.
Safety Notice
The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes, and is not intended for installation in household electrical circuits. The infrared transmitter emits invisible light; prolonged direct viewing of the transmitter surface should be avoided. Work on or immediately next to a building's electrical installation is reserved for qualified electricians; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
