Product description

This miniature ball bearing is a standard rolling bearing with steel balls running in hardened steel grooves and is used for low-friction support of shafts and axles. The outer rings are 16 mm in diameter, the inner ring fits on a 5 mm shaft, and the overall width is 5 mm. The steel shields on both sides protect the bearing from contamination without sealing it completely; dust and moisture are prevented from entering or can enter only minimally, which allows the bearing to operate reliably for a long time even in less clean environments.

The bearing supports radial forces of up to approximately 25 N, making it suitable for light to medium loads. At high rotational speeds of up to approximately 30,000 revolutions per minute, friction remains low. It accommodates only minimal axial loads, so heavy loads along the shaft are not suitable.

Typical applications include small fans, geared motors, model vehicles and high-speed measuring instruments. In 3D printers, the ball bearing often supports the axis motor or is used in extruder designs, where it can continuously withstand speeds ranging from 10,000 to 25,000 revolutions per minute.

Use requires an exact 5 mm bore; if the shaft is undersized, a clamping sleeve or similar solution is required. For axial loads, the bearing must be combined with a second unit or an additional support. Lubrication after extended operation extends the service life, but is not always necessary if the rotational speed remains moderate.
