Product Description
The GPS receiver module uses the GNSS chip to evaluate navigation satellite signals and determine the position, speed, and current time. The calculated data is output as serial raw data in NMEA format via a UART interface.
The module connects to a microcontroller via two data pins (TXD and RXD) using TTL voltage levels. Since the module already includes level shifting, it can be connected directly to common boards ranging from Arduino to STM32 without additional voltage converters, even when they operate at 5 V. An additional PPS pin serves as a one-second pulse output for precise time synchronization independently of the serial data flow.
Two different antenna connectors, SMA and IPEX, are available for satellite reception. This selection allows you to choose an external antenna with the appropriate connector and position it flexibly, which is especially useful in confined or metal-framed installation environments. Typical applications include position determination for navigation devices, vehicle and object tracking, and projects requiring a precise time base.
The module permanently stores configuration settings in an integrated EEPROM, so they remain retained even after the supply voltage is switched off. Operation requires an external antenna with the appropriate connector and a power supply between 3.3 and 5 V; satellite reception is not possible without an antenna.
