Product description
This Class-A tube amplifier uses discrete transistors in the final amplifier stage and produces a characteristic warm sound. The Class-A principle means that the output transistors remain conducting throughout the entire signal cycle, minimizing distortion and enabling linear amplification. This results in higher power consumption and correspondingly greater heat generation, which is dissipated passively through the housing surface.
The amplifier uses an iron-core output transformer for impedance matching, transforming the high impedance of the amplifier stage to low speaker impedances. This allows broad compatibility with different speakers without additional matching circuits. The inputs are in the low-impedance range and require a correspondingly suitable source signal from preamplifiers or other audio devices.
Typical applications include home theater installations with high-quality passive speakers, building Hi-Fi systems with separately implemented preamplifiers, or using it as a compact power amplifier for turntable amplifiers. The device can also be used in studio monitoring systems with lower sound pressure levels, where its warm, low-distortion sound is appreciated.
Operation requires a properly protected 220 V power supply, which is not included with the device. Due to the continuous heat generation, free air circulation around the housing must be ensured, and adequate clearance from heat-sensitive components or materials must be maintained. A preamplifier with an adjustable output or a separate preamplifier is necessary if the input signal is too weak.
Safety information
The device is not suitable for operation on household power circuits or for installation in unventilated furniture. This product is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. The power supply uses mains voltage; work on or in the immediate vicinity of the power supply system must be carried out by a qualified electrician, and a qualified electrician must be consulted before commissioning if there are any questions about correct installation.
