Product description
This module receives coded infrared signals from television remote controls and converts them into digital output signals. It operates with the 38 kHz carrier frequency used to modulate standard remote controls and reliably decodes the incoming commands.
The digital output provides TTL levels and can be connected directly to microcontrollers. Thanks to its wide supply voltage range of 2.7 to 5.5 volts, the module is compatible with a wide variety of target boards, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and common microcontroller boards. The XH2.54 connector follows a standard connector format and enables easy prototyping without soldering.
The module can be used in home automation projects to capture commands from genuine or custom-built remote controls and to control devices such as LEDs, motors, or relays. Remote-controlled robots and music installations with infrared triggers can also use it. A typical application would be remotely controlling a mobile robot with a standard remote control, with the module detecting each button press and forwarding it as a control command.
For operation, in addition to the power supply, only a microcontroller environment with an available digital input is required. Proper operation depends on the sensor having an unobstructed view of the infrared transmitters; obstructions or interfering light can reduce the range.
