An impeller inside rotates with the water flow, with a magnetic field triggering a Hall sensor on each revolution. The sensor outputs one or more pulses per liter as a digital signal that microcontrollers can process directly.

With its G1/2 threaded block, the sensor fits standard pipes and does not require compressor connections. The measurement range of 1 to 30 liters per minute covers both low-flow applications and medium flow rates. The pulse frequency is proportional to the flow rate, allowing the volume of water that has passed through to be determined at any interval by counting the pulses.

The sensor is suitable for rainwater storage systems where the filled volume needs to be monitored, as well as garden irrigation systems, aquarium monitoring, and use as a counter in laboratory test setups. One possible application is triggering an alarm when a specified volume of water is exceeded, for example to protect against pipe bursts or limit consumption costs.

The sensor requires an external 5 V power supply and outputs signals at a 5 V level. Evaluation requires an input with pulse-counter functionality or an interrupt on the microcontroller; the frequency and number of pulses per liter must be determined from the datasheet or by measurement, as they may vary slightly depending on the flow rate. The measurement range below 1 liter per minute is not reliable.

Safety Notice

The sensor is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It must not be used in domestic water lines supplied by the municipal water network, in high-pressure systems, or for drinking-water monitoring. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for a planned application, consult a qualified electrician before installation.

Scope of Delivery

1x YF-S201 Water/Flow Sensor - 1-30L/Min, G1/2, Hall Effect

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1074/5649/5965/files/yf-s201-wasser-durchflusssensor-1-30lmin-g12-halleffekt-funduino-9852783.png?v=1791495538
